Effective Media - your partner for professional localisation
What does "localisation" mean?

to localise:

.1. to restrict or assign to a particular place; 2. to invest with the characteristics of a particular place (...)

.to perform high-quality translations of computer software, in keeping with specialised terminologies and stylistics.

.to linguistically and culturally adapt a product to the target country.

The term "localisation" cannot be sufficiently explained by briefly consulting a dictionary. Some companies still imagine a localisation to be a simple "translation" of software.

At Effective Media, we draw a clear line between "translation" and "localisation", as software localisation must cover a multitude of services in order to guarantee that your final product is adapted to the target market in every aspect.

Our work is therefore not limited to a literal translation, as offered by many other agencies. Rather, our brand of localisation consists of an intercultural adaptation of software to the specific features of a different language area.

We specialise in adapting software to the German market. But we also handle international productions and offer complete English localisation services as well as, through partner agencies, localisations into French, Italian, and Spanish - all, of course, managed exclusively by native speakers..

Not only are more and more languages required nowadays, but localisations are also expected to meet a much higher standard of quality. An increasing number of software reviews also mention the localisation quality, in some cases criticising expensive blockbuster products for a quality of localisation that fails to please.

Are you tired of reviews such as "Regular occurrences of mistakes in translation are about as conducive to the atmosphere as a mobile ringtone in the middle of an opera", or "More effort should have been invested in the German voice-over recordings, which ruin the mood of the game", or even "Consequently, we are forced to deduct two points from the game's overall score"? Then think about whether such feedback justifies a minimal saving of expenses.

In the end, quality pays, after all.
